Baseball started in England in the mid-18th century as a simple bat-and-ball game. It was brought in North America by immigrants and evolved into a new and very popular sport. It is also the national sport of the United States.There are two teams, nine players in each, and they take turns in batting and fielding. Batting is done by the offense team and the fielding is played by the defense team.The players of the batting team take turns in batting the ball and once they hit the ball, they need to run counter-clockwise to the bases of the field until they reach the home plate again. They score when they return to the home base before the ball is returned.

The batting team only has three chances to hit the ball. After that, teams change positions. The fielding team is the one in charge of pitching the ball to the batter and making sure that the ball reaches a particular base before the player of the batting team could.When both teams have had a turn at batting, an inning is completed. For baseball, there is a total of nine innings and there is no time limit for this sport. The team who scores the greater number of runs wins.

बेसबॉल (अंग्रेज़ी: Baseball) एक बल्ले एवं गेंद से खेले जाना वाला अमरीकी खेल है।

बेसबॉल 1846 में इंग्लैंड में सबसे पहले खेला गया था, लेकिन इसको वास्तविक रूप कुछ परिवर्तन के साथ उत्तरी अमेरिका ने दिया। 19वीं शताब्दी के अंत में यह संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका का नेशनल गेम बन गया। बेसबॉल तब उत्तरी अमेरिका, सेंट्रल और दक्षिण अमेरिका, केरेबिया और ईस्ट एशिया में खूब खेला जाता था। बेसबॉल को धीरे-धीरे ओलंपिक में भी स्थान मिल गया। यह समर (गर्मी) ओलंपिक में खेला जाता है।

इसमें एक विशेष प्रकार के बैट और बॉल का प्रयोग किया जाता है। बैट रॉड की तरह होता है और बॉल को इससे हिट किया जाता है। यह खेल दो टीमों के बीच खेला जाता है। एक टीम में 9 खिलाड़ी होते हैं। एक टीम बैटिंग करती है और दूसरी फील्डिंग। बैट, रॉड की तरह होने से बॉल को हिट करना मुश्किल होता है। बॉलर बिना किसी टप्पे या जमीन पर बॉल को लगाए सीधा बैटमैन की तरफ फेंकता है। बैटमैन बॉल को हिट करके अपने बल्ले को वहीं छोड़कर दूसरे छोर पर भागता है। बेसबॉल खेलने की पिच डायमंड आकार की होती है, जिसके चार बेस होते हैं। बल्लेबाज बॉल को हिट करके नं.-2 बेस में भागता है, यानी वह एक बार में जितने बेस कवर करेगा उसको उतने ही रन मिलेंगे। यह रोमांचक गेम खेलने में जितना मजेदार है, उतना देखने में भी।
